The developer tool Github Desktop 2.4 introduces support for proxy access, simplifies the creation of issues and brings support for other code editors.

As Github’s Billy Griffin confirms in his release post , the innovations in desktop version 2.4 are primarily tailored to employees of large organizations who connect to the Internet via a proxy. The tool wants to automate standard processes, which should lead to a smoother handling of the software and its own repositories.

Automatic configuration avoids common errors

It starts with the setup. Previously, this was rather tedious in large organizations, Desktop 2.4 now ensures a fully functional installation. This is particularly useful when using proxies. In the past, it was precisely in these configurations that error messages such as “Couldn’t resolve host” occurred when pushing or pulling a GitHub repository.
